Crash: Yak Service YK42 at Yaroslavl on Sep 7th 2011, failed to climb on takeoff.

A Yak Service Yakovlev Yak-42, registration RA-42434 performing a charter flight from Yaroslavl (Russia) to Minsk (Belarus) with 37 passengers (the Lokomotiv Yaroslav Hockey Team) and 8 crew, could not climb out after takeoff from Yaroslavl’s Tunoshna Airport at approx. 15:50L (11:50Z). The airplane impacted an antenna outside the airport perimeter, impacted ground and came to rest about 1000 meters from the airport broken up in two major parts, the tail section at the bank of Volga River and the fuselage in the river. 26 bodies have so far been recovered, two occupants have been taken to hospitals alive.
Russia’s Emergency Ministry Yaroslavl office reports 37 passengers and 8 crew were on board, 26 bodies have been recovered from the river, 2 people have been taken to hospitals.

Rosaviatsia reported 34 occupants were killed, 3 occupants survived. The aircraft failed to climb to safe altitude, impacted an antenna outside the airport perimeter and fell to ground breaking up.

The Lokomotiv Yaroslavl Club reported, all of the A-Team were on board of the aircraft. The Ice Hockey Team was departing to play this season’s opening match against Dynamo Minsk.

According to Yaroslavl hospital the two people delivered to the hospital are the flight engineer and the Russian player Alexander Galimov.

Russia’s MAK reported an investigation has been opened. The MAK provided the tail number as RA-42433, which is another Yak-42 belonging to Tatarstan Air.

Radar data confirm RA-42434 had positioned from Moscow Vnukovo to Yaroslavl as flight AKY-9634 arriving at approximately 14:10L (10:10Z).

According to ATDB Yak Air Service operates two Yak-42s: RA-42434 and RA-42387.

No Metars are available, the local weatherstation reported visibility above 50km (27nm), partly cloudy, winds from the north at 14kph (7.5 knots), temperature 17 degrees C, dew point 7 degrees C, humidity 40%, rapidly dropping QNH (1014 hPa at 10:00L, 1011 hPa at 13:00L and 1008 hPa at 16:00L).
